Job summary

HGL (HydroGeoLogic, Inc.) seeks an Environmental Engineer II to support EPA, USAF, and USACE projects from Reston, VA. This role focuses on groundwater and soil investigations, PFAS remediation, and system operations from our Reston headquarters.

The position requires 4+ years of experience, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and experience with environmental sampling, field work, and reporting. Occasional travel up to 50% across the U.S. is possible and candidates should be proficient with MS Office.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of related work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geological/Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with environmental investigations including groundwater, soil, and surface water sampling.
• Experience with environmental remediation projects.
• Experience contributing to technical reports, memoranda, and work plans.
• Ability to work within a team environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure field operations follow Site Safety and Health Plans and standard procedures.
• Participate in field teams for collection of water, soil, soil vapor, surface water and sediment samples.
• Assist with remedial system installation and operations & maintenance.
• Provide field subcontractor oversight for remediation, waste transport/disposal, and heavy equipment.
• Contribute to preparation of work plans and project deliverables (e.g., RI Reports, SSHP/HASPs).
• Assist with data entry, analysis, and interpretation of environmental data.
• Manage or lead field teams collecting data and supervising remedial systems.
