Job summary

Department of the Navy in Kaneohe, Hawaii seeks an Environmental Engineer to provide direct technical control over environmental mitigation projects, interpret policy directives, and serve as a planning point of contact to protect human health and the environment.

You will conduct inspections for compliance, develop pollution-control strategies, and prepare scopes of work and funding requests for contractors to perform engineering studies. Includes travel and PPE considerations.

Qualifications

• At least one year of specialized experience at GS-07 or equivalent.
• Experience preparing discharge and emissions reports, control inventories, and modeling.
• Experience assisting with cost estimates and construction plans for environmental projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct technical control over environmental mitigation projects.
• Guide and interpret environmental engineering policy directives and programs; act as planning point of contact to protect health and environment.
• Conduct inspections to identify non-compliant pollution sources and determine need for improved pollution control design.
• Develop strategies to remove pollutants from discharge sources and improve industrial processes and pollution control methods.
• Prepare scope of work, funding requests, technical parameters, and operational requirements; arrange contractors for engineering studies.
