Job summary

Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) seeks an Environmental Engineer (GS-0819-13) to lead environmental compliance and NEPA efforts for high-stakes DoD test operations. You will oversee complex EAs/EISs, serve as regulatory liaison with federal/state authorities, and guide remediation programs across key test sites.

You will develop innovative solutions to mitigate environmental risks from weapon testing, ensuring worker and public safety and strict regulatory adherence nationwide.

Qualifications

• Experience with environmental compliance and NEPA for DoD/DoD-related projects.
• Ability to direct development and review of Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements.
• Experience coordinating with DoW, DOE, EPA and OSHA on regulatory matters.

Responsibilities

• Serves as SME on environmental compliance and NEPA, directing development, execution, and review of complex EAs and EISs.
• Acts as regulatory liaison for high-priority environmental actions across national test assets and audits.
• Conceives and implements engineering solutions to mitigate environmental risks from WMD testing.
• Directs lifecycle permitting and remediation activities, ensuring multi-agency regulatory alignment.
• Designs and delivers environmental training programs for military, government, and contractor personnel.
