Job summary

The U.S. Coast Guard FACILITIES DESIGN and CONSTRUCTION CENTER in Norfolk seeks an Environmental Engineer to join a multidisciplinary design-build team responsible for projects up to $50 million and durations up to five years.

You will conduct audits, interpret environmental regulations, assess project impacts, design systems for sustainability, monitor progress, and prepare technical reports for stakeholders.

Qualifications

Engineering degree with ABET-accredited program or equivalent
Professional registration/licensure may apply (EI/EIT/PE) or FE exam, or related academic/work background
Experience in environmental engineering and regulatory compliance is required

Responsibilities

Conduct environmental audits and inspections for legal compliance
Evaluate project impacts on natural resources and propose mitigation strategies
Design and manage systems for environmental challenges (restoration, sustainability, waste, pollution)
Monitor progress for compliance with standards and timelines; provide technical support
Prepare technical reports and documentation for stakeholders
