Job summary

SpaceX seeks an Environmental Engineer, Compliance/Air, to lead environmental programs at the Vandenberg Space Force Base site. The role collaborates with EHS leads to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize Tier II, TRI, and HMMP processes while coordinating with engineers across the site.

You will manage audits, liaise with regulators, and support safety initiatives in a fast-paced aerospace environment, with a focus on air and hazardous materials management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field.
• 3+ years of experience operating or building environmental compliance programs in industrial, aerospace, DoD, or manufacturing settings.
• California environmental compliance experience preferred at aerospace/launch facilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve environmental programs at SpaceX's Vandenberg, CA location.
• Ensure compliance with EPA, RCRA, DOT, CUPA, RWQCB, SBCAPCD and other regulations.
• Prepare and submit Tier II and TRI filings; archive calculations and submissions.
• Maintain HMMP/HMBP, CUPA inventories, and Tier II inputs; coordinate testing and permitting actions.
• Plan changes in facilities, review equipment, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop relations with federal, state, and county regulators; work with engineering teams site-wide.
• Assist in high-hazard operations analysis affecting air, waste, or HMMP; coordinate field work.
• Support NEPA, biological monitoring, and debris mitigation requirements.
• Conduct internal audits and drive corrective actions with operations and facilities.
