Job summary

The Student Conservation Association, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA seeks an urban youth program assistant to balance environmental education with hands-on service projects.

After-school sessions are at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and Saturday projects occur at the SCA office in the Hill District. Ideal candidates are current high school students (ages 14–18) who enjoy outdoor work, can operate in all weather, and can commit Tue/Thu after 4:30pm and Saturdays at 10am.

Qualifications

• Current high school student aged 14–18.
• Prior outdoor conservation experience is preferred.
• Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Ability to legally work in the United States.
• Availability at CMNH in Oakland Tue/Thu after 4:30pm and at the SCA office on Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage in environmental education activities.
• Participate in environmental service projects including tree care, habitat restoration, and trailwork.
• Assist with sessions at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and at the SCA office.
