General Responsibilities:

Are you a motivated environmental professional looking for a leadership role where you can make a meaningful impact? We are seeking a Department Manager to lead and grow our environmental consulting practice in Northern Colorado. This position offers the opportunity to mentor a high-performing team, develop client relationships, and contribute to the overall success of our environmental services. This position will work closely with the Office Manager, Regional Operations Manager, and Environmental Service Line leadership to strategically expand and elevate the department.

As the Environmental Department Manager, you will oversee all projects within the department to ensure they are executed on time and in a manner that provides a positive client experience. You will supervise the preparation of proposals and cost estimates to ensure proper scoping of services, availability of resources, and pricing to achieve desired profitability. You will supervise daily department operations including staff development, utilization of equipment and facilities, safety oversight, project quality, timely delivery, and adherence to policies and procedures. Additionally, you will plan for and participate in business development activities to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities, while building and maintaining client relationships.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

The Environmental Department Manager will work with our Northern Colorado Operations Manager to lead our team of Environmental Professionals and will perform the following duties:

  • Prepare and execute the department growth strategy and annual business plan.
  • Actively partner with client development staff and leaders from other service lines to grow business with existing clients and develop new clients and business opportunities.
  • Lead talent recruitment and selection efforts to support business needs and strategic growth.
  • Direct efforts associated with training, mentoring, and development of staff.
  • Routinely track key department performance metrics such as revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability.
  • Identify and mitigate project-related risks, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry best practices.
  • Lead safety efforts for the team. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline practiced by the firm, including but not limited to Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology, with at least 8 years of practice experience.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certifications:
  • Graduate degree.
  • Professional certification or licensure in the field of expertise.

The salary range for this position is anticipated to be $115,000 to $138,000.
