Job summary

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a LAW ENFORCEMENT LIEUTENANT (LE MGR II) to lead investigations in the Environmental Crimes Unit. The role requires a sworn officer with authority to arrest and testify in court, and will oversee assignments across multiple field offices.

Responsibilities include directing investigations, enforcing environmental laws, testifying in court, and supervising investigators.

Qualifications

• Sworn law enforcement certification required by the State of Florida or other agency.
• Four years of sworn law enforcement experience; degrees may substitute for up to one year.
• This position requires PAT, oral board, medical and psych evaluations, and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of investigators at multiple field offices.
• Investigate alleged environmental violations, seize evidence, arrest, and testify in court.
• Enforce federal, state, and local laws with emphasis on environmental protection.
• Supervise investigations, evaluate problems, administer policies, and conduct personnel evaluations.
• Travel and work across sixteen counties; may be emergency mission essential and on-call.
