Job summary

Amazon in Herndon, VA is seeking an Environmental Construction Program Manager to lead regional and site-specific development strategies, provide environmental compliance support, and coordinate with cross-functional teams throughout construction and handoff to operations.

You will work with stakeholders from Real Estate, Legal, Risk, and Operations to ensure adherence to environmental permits and regulatory requirements, while driving sustainable site development and performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering multi-media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance projects with specific expertise in CWA 404 and NPDES permitting, groundwater protection, wastewater discharge, and natural and cultural resource evaluations
• Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds across site development and construction phases

Responsibilities

• Assess environmental risks and requirements across all relevant media and develop mitigation strategies to support site-specific project delivery
• Manage environmental compliance during construction, including wetlands and waters permits, protected species and cultural resource requirements, stormwater and erosion & sediment control, wastewater, and groundwater protection
• Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to internal and external project partners
• Coordinate with partner teams — including Construction, Design, Water, Legal, Real Estate, Power, and others — to manage construction and operational constraints
• Develop site development strategies that are environmentally responsible and sustainable while meeting project timelines
• Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations
• Develop, manage, and track metrics to evaluate program performance
