Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager to lead the Hampton Roads Environmental Compliance Department and drive department growth, staff development, and project portfolio expansion.

You will oversee VPDES/NPDES compliance inspections, SWPPP development, and agency coordination across residential, commercial, utility, and transportation projects. The role requires 5+ years in NPDES/VPDES compliance, Virginia regulatory knowledge, strong leadership, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in NPDES/VPDES compliance inspections and reporting.
• In-depth knowledge of Virginia’s General VPDES Stormwater Management Program and Construction General Permit requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of Virginia’s Water Protection (VWP) Permit and Virginia State Water Control Law.
• Virginia’s Qualified Personnel (QP) Certification.
• Strong project management and multitasking skills.
• Proven business development and networking ability.
• Effective leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with diverse public and private clients.
• Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally out of state, including weekends or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee department operations including stormwater compliance inspections and reporting.
• Lead SWPPP development and auditing.
• Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies on wetlands, erosion, sediment control, and stormwater compliance.
• Manage project scheduling, budgeting, and billing.
• Prepare proposals including scope, fees, and RFP responses.
• Provide internal training, mentoring, and implement SOPs.
• Collaborate with other WSSI and Davey departments as needed.
