Job summary

ADM's Cedar Rapids Corn Complex is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support the Environmental Manager in maintaining the site’s EMS and environmental compliance programs in a mixed office/industrial setting.

You will work with plant management, operations, engineering, and environmental teams to develop strategies, ensure regulatory permit adherence, prepare reports, and lead environmental projects such as pollution prevention and training.

Qualifications

BS degree in Environmental, Engineering, or related discipline.
2-4 years’ experience in an environmental compliance role.
Previous industrial plant experience.
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations with emphasis on air, waste, water/storm water/wastewater management, and hazardous material handling/storage.
EMS development and implementation experience preferred.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence others at all levels of the organization.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours and after-hours emergencies.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

Assist with the implementation and sustainment of the site’s EMS program, including policy development, incident investigation, and continuous improvement efforts.
Collaborate with plant management, operations, and environmental groups to develop strategies for environmental issues and sustainability goals.
Ensure environmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and company requirements.
Collect/verify data for environmental reporting and recordkeeping.
Follow ADM’s recordkeeping process to maintain compliance documents.
Assist in permitting activities (Title V and PSD) for the site.
Prepare environmental reports such as Title V, Emissions Inventory, TRI, Tier II, CEMS, GHG, NSPS/NESHAP.
Interact with environmental consultants and regulators as needed.
Identify environmental requirements and ensure they are considered in new equipment/facilities development.
Lead environmental projects including pollution prevention, pollution control, and compliance testing.
Develop and provide environmental training to plant personnel and contractors (Storm Water, Spill Prevention, Hazardous Waste, Risk Management, etc.).
Perform duties safely and complete required safety training.
