The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality seeks an Engineer II (NS) to serve as a neutral, independent technical resource for small businesses navigating regulatory, permitting, and compliance challenges.

This role supports the Small Business Environmental Assistance Program under the Clean Air Act and may involve travel up to 10% per month. A Bachelor’s in engineering plus 3 years of experience is required, with potential PE registration.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.

Mansioni

• Assist small businesses in identifying and resolving environmental problems.
• Develop and present compliance training materials and solutions that are of common interest to the regulators and the regulated community.
• Stay engaged with the regulatory agency activities, such as the Division of Air Quality’s Permitting Workgroup, Compliance Workgroup, and others as deemed necessary.
• Assist with special projects assigned by DEACS division leadership.
