Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking an Environmental Specialist/Engineer to support compliance across regional and plant operations, evaluating data, permits, and regulatory requirements to help ensure compliance with applicable laws and NRG standards. You will work with site teams to promote environmental stewardship and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or related discipline with 2+ years in environmental field, or related pathway.
  • Knowledge of major environmental laws and applicable federal, state and regional regulations.
  • Understanding of industrial plant operations and environmental compliance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Support and supplement regional and plant compliance efforts with established teams.
  • Document facility inspections and compliance certifications; participate in regulatory inspections.
  • Evaluate test reports and data for compliance with regulatory requirements and NRG standards.
  • Respond to environmental events at NRG facilities as required.
  • Coordinate QA reviews of emissions data from CEMS and monitoring plans.
  • Coordinate QA reviews of water discharge monitoring data and plans.
  • Develop expertise in data acquisition software and perform data trend analyses.
  • Assist with obtaining new environmental permits and internal documentation.
  • Support corporate environmental initiatives and promote environmental stewardship.
