Job summary

NRG Energy seeks an Environmental Specialist/Engineer to drive compliance at the 1800MW Limestone Generating Station in Jewett, TX. You will update environmental databases, prepare filings, and coordinate activities as station representative to ensure adherence to environmental laws and corporate policies.

The role involves managing permits (TPDES, SPCC), data analysis, and interdepartmental collaboration with operations. Strong regulatory knowledge and licenses are required for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related science or engineering or equivalent.
• 8 years of relevant environmental experience with a high school diploma.
• Ability to obtain TCEQ Class D Drinking Water Operator License.
• Ability to obtain TCEQ Class C Wastewater Operator License.

Responsibilities

• Maintain expert knowledge of CCR Rule, Solid Waste, and Wastewater regulations.
• Manage TPDES Permit renewal, SPCC and Storm Water program implementation and provide waste characterization support.
• Oversee water supply contracts/permits and coordinate with key water supply stakeholders.
• Support environmental compliance activities including air quality data analysis and reporting, and permitting.
• Coordinate data submission for environmental reporting programs; familiarity with CEMS and StackVision desirable.
• Interact with plant environmental and operations personnel during inspections and audits; develop compliance tools.
• Coordinate testing program activities: notifications, contractors, evaluate results for compliance.
• Provide environmental support for facility operations: technical assistance, training, and recordkeeping.
• Assist in interpretation of environmental regulation impacts on plant operations.
