Job summary
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Northwest District in Pensacola, FL is seeking an Environmental Specialist III to lead complex cleanup projects, enforce regulatory compliance and coordinate brownfields activities. This role requires broad regulatory knowledge and strong communication with stakeholders.
Responsibilities include developing technical reports, managing reviews, and ensuring deadlines while maintaining field presence and data accuracy.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of related experience in Environmental/Regulatory and/or Engineering.
- Post-secondary degrees may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Ability to travel overnight and complete OSHA HAZWOPER requirements.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate project impacts using geologic, engineering, and hydrogeologic data and reports.
- Develop and present technical reports to district supervisors.
- Coordinate and track technical reviews for the waste cleanup section.
- Coordinate Brownfields activities including eligibility and public inquiries.
- Communicate technical issues to internal and external stakeholders.
