Job summary

State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Northwest District, is seeking an Environmental Specialist III in Pensacola, FL. The role focuses on coordinating compliance and enforcement for sites with groundwater, surface water, and soil contamination while serving as the Brownfields Coordinator for the district.

The position requires 6+ years of related experience or a relevant degree, OSHA HAZWOPER training, and strong skills in reporting, data analysis and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science, Environmental Science or Engineering; 6 years of related experience may substitute.
• OSHA 24-hour HAZWOPER training with annual refresher required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate compliance and enforcement for groundwater, surface water, and soil contamination sites.
• Serve as Brownfields Coordinator for the Northwest District.
• Develop and present technical reports to district supervisors.
• Track progress of cleanup projects and manage technical reviews.
• Communicate complex technical issues to stakeholders and manage outreach.
