Florida Department of Environmental Protection in West Palm Beach is seeking an Environmental Specialist I to process permit applications, conduct compliance inspections, and support multiple DEP programs. The role involves cross-training in air, waste, and water while mentoring staff on programmatic issues.

The position emphasizes inspections, data entry, and coordination with Compliance teams to meet deadlines and maintain high compliance rates.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of the physical or natural sciences.
• Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze, and interpret scientific or technical data.
• Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to environmental programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Responsabilités

• Planned inspections and permit processing across environmental programs.
• Coordinate with Compliance staff and participate in training and development.
• Prepare technical and programmatic reports and correspondence.
• Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with Department rules and statutes.
