Job summary

The City of Mesquite is seeking a qualified administrator to direct the Environmental Code Division within the Neighborhood Services Department. You will supervise staff, coordinate with other City departments and outside agencies, and provide high level administrative support to the Director.

Responsibilities include managing programs, overseeing budget development, enforcing codes, and guiding continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, or related field.
• Five years of increasingly responsible experience in public service including three years of supervisory or administrative responsibility.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Registered Code Enforcement Officer issued by the State of Texas or be able to obtain within six months of employment.
• Obtain International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector or must be able to obtain within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Direct, manage, supervise, and coordinate the Environmental Code Division activities within the Neighborhood Services Department.
• Coordinate assigned activities with other City departments, divisions, and outside agencies; provide high-level administrative support to the Director.
• Supervise Environmental Code personnel; plan, train, evaluate, and handle personnel actions; develop performance reviews.
• Manage the division's annual budget; forecast staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor expenditures.
