Job summary

City of McAllen seeks a leadership-level director to oversee Health, Code Compliance & Animal Care Services. You will plan, conduct, and administer environmental health programs while enforcing local ordinances and state laws to protect public health.

You will formulate long-range goals, develop policy, and engage with the city’s chief administrative officer and elected officials to advance organizational priorities.

Responsibilities

• Direct the operation of the Health, Code Compliance & Animal Care Services department.
• Plan, conduct, and administer environmental health programs to protect public health.
• Enforce city ordinances and Texas Health laws and regulations; prevent and control foodborne and communicable diseases.
• Formulate long-range goals, develop policy and position papers, and negotiate with the chief administrative officer and elected officials.
