Job summary

The City of Fremont's Community Development Department seeks an Environmental Services Administrator (Sustainability Manager) to lead environmental programs and advance the City's climate plans. The role oversees sustainability initiatives, waste management, and regulatory compliance while coordinating with multiple departments and external partners.

Responsibilities include directing staff, managing budgets, and driving public outreach to promote sustainable practices across Fremont’s city

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, urban planning, project management, engineering, public policy, or related field; five years of progressive experience.
• Experience leading environmental sustainability or climate protection programs.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and contract administration within municipal government.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage environmental sustainability and climate protection programs.
• Oversee solid waste, stormwater, and related environmental initiatives.
• Administer contracts, budgets and procurement for assigned programs.
• Lead staff, coordinate with City departments, and engage with external partners.
