Job summary

State of Indiana is seeking an Environmental Manager within the Drinking Water Branch to coordinate and oversee drinking water programs. You will provide technical guidance, perform plan reviews, and support enforcement and compliance efforts while traveling to sites as needed.

A degree is not required, but five years of environmental/public health experience may be considered. Salary starts at $53,222 and may be commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of environmental protection principles and practices.
• Thorough knowledge of chemistry, biology, hydrology, mathematics, engineering, and related environmental sciences.
• Ability to conduct surveys, inspections and investigations, read plans, interpret findings, and make recommendations.
• Excellent research and writing skills for precise reports.
• Ability to interpret and apply legal terminology and practices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as environmental expert guiding regulated communities and officials.
• Project management to meet program area needs; prepare work plans and reports.
• Research permits; interact with applicants and participate in public meetings and hearings.
• Conduct surveys, inspections, and investigations; cite violations.
• Enforcement and compliance actions to return sources to compliance.
• Support various programs; assist with sampling, field work, and data analysis.
