Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of environmental protection principles and practices.
• Thorough knowledge of chemistry, biology, hydrology, mathematics, engineering, and other environmental sciences.
• Thorough knowledge of soil, water, air sampling, laboratory analysis and interpretation.
• Ability to conduct surveys, inspections and investigations of facilities and sites.
• Excellent research and writing skills for reports.
• Ability to interact and communicate with diverse audiences.
• Ability to interpret and apply legal terminology and practices.

Responsibilities

• Serves as environmental expert guiding regulated communities, government officials, attorneys and staff.
• Performs project management duties to ensure effective program area needs; acts as technical point-of-contact for environmental programs.
• Researches guidance, laws, and regulations related to permits; engages with applicants and public meetings.
• Conducts surveys, inspections and investigations; cites violations and provides technical guidance.
• Uses enforcement tools to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
• Supports program staff in multiple capacities; assists in sampling planning and field work.
• Prepares technical analyses and reports to assess environmental impacts.
• Communicates with stakeholders and responsible parties regarding permits and program questions.
• Travel to sites for inspections and reporting as needed.
