Job summary

Avam is expanding its Environmental team and seeks a Business Development Representative to identify new customers, initiate conversations, and build qualified sales opportunities for environmental laboratories, municipal utilities, water and wastewater treatment organizations, and industrial customers.

You will own prospecting and early qualification while partnering with an Account Executive responsible for evaluations, proposals, negotiations, and closing, with opportunities for growth into

Qualifications

• Experience in sales development or inside sales for laboratory or technical markets.
• Interest in environmental testing, water/wastewater, or related industries.
• Strong written and verbal communication with professional follow-through.
• Ability to research organizations, identify contacts, and tailor outreach.
• Comfort initiating conversations with new contacts via outbound channels.

Responsibilities

• Research and prioritize target accounts across environmental testing domains.
• Identify decision-makers including lab directors and utility managers.
• Execute outreach via phone, email, LinkedIn, and other channels.
• Qualify prospects based on testing needs and procurement processes.
• Coordinate handoffs to the Account Executive with research notes.
• Maintain accurate CRM records of activities and next steps.
• Work with scientific specialists when technical guidance is needed.
