Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is to oversee adherence to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations within the facility. Their principal objective is to uphold a secure working environment and mitigate the risk of injuries and accidents. EHS Coordinators must take a hands-on approach to observing operations, identifying opportunities for improvement, providing solutions, and leading projects/initiatives to improve site and employee safety.

Essential Duties

  • Plans and implements OSHA policies and programs.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to employees regarding a range of safety related subjects.
  • Manages EHS matters for site visits and external inquiries.
  • Prepares and delivers training sessions on both company-wide and site-specific safety protocols and procedures. Provides instruction to new and existing employees regarding operational standards.
  • Submits recommendations for enhancements and additions to EHS program, encompassing areas such as emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
  • Collaborates with HR and management to formulate, draft, and execute safety policies and procedures.
  • Facilitates monthly safety committee team meetings to cultivate a safety-oriented culture and pinpoint areas for improvement.
  • Enforces preventative measures and ensures employees adhere to rules and regulations.
  • Partners with HR to integrate safety training into the onboarding process for new employees.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and internal regulations, laws, codes, and rules.
  • Conducts proactive daily, weekly, and monthly risk audits to identify potential safety opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health issues.
  • Assists with incident investigations, compiles accident reports, oversees safety violations, identifies causes of incidents, and offers solutions.
  • Oversees workplace repairs, installations, and addresses any safety violations that may endanger employees.
  • Maintains a record of safety actions, ensuring completion, and shares them with internal team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Educational Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience working in a fast paced and high-volume work environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in an efficient manner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proactive “self-starter” with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete OSHA 10 course within first 90 days of employment
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective interaction with employees on all levels, including executive leadership
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred

  • 1 – 2 years of experience as a safety coordinator or manufacturing team lead
