POSITION SUMMARY
The mission of the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator (EHS Coordinator) is, together with the EHS Manager, safeguard employee health, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive environmental sustainability in medical equipment manufacturing. By implementing robust safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a culture of responsibility, this role minimizes workplace hazards and enhances operational resilience. Through waste management initiatives and pollution prevention strategies, it contributes to reduced environmental impact and improved resource efficiency. Ultimately, this role is pivotal in maintaining a safe, compliant, and sustainable manufacturing environment, directly impacting product quality, operational continuity, and the organization's reputation in the medical device industry. The EHS Coordinator will work under the supervision of the EHS Manager. The EHS Coordinator ensures ProMed’s brand, philosophy, systems, policies, and procedures are properly implemented and observed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Together with the EHS Manager, help to develop protocols for safe disposal of hazardous waste generated during manufacturing processes.
- Conduct energy efficiency audits to identify opportunities for reducing environmental impact.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source environmentally friendly materials for medical device components.
- Help create metrics to track and report on the facility's environmental performance.
- Together with the EHS Manager, help to develop comprehensive safety protocols tailored to medical device production processes.
- Conduct regular compliance audits to ensure adherence to industry-specific regulations.
- Help establish key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of health and safety programs.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies, as needed, to maintain up-to-date certifications and permits.
- Perform systematic risk assessments of medical device production areas and processes.
- Help deliver targeted safety training programs for specific manufacturing roles.
- Analyze incident data to identify trends and implement preventive measures.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate personal protective equipment for various production tasks.
- Facilitate cross-functional safety committees to address production-specific environmental concerns.
- Conduct regular safety walkthroughs with management to demonstrate commitment to workplace safety.
- Create engaging visual aids and signage to reinforce safety protocols in production areas.
- Monitor regulatory changes in medical device manufacturing to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Benchmark safety and environmental practices against industry leaders in medical equipment production.
- Participate in professional associations to stay informed about emerging safety technologies and methodologies.
- Conduct periodic reviews of safety management systems to identify areas for improvement.
- Identifies and implements a comprehensive education plan to continually advance technical skills and personal development as well as enhancing organizational effectiveness.
- Establishes and cultivates a network of support (laboratory, quality, manufacturing, engineering, sales, and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments.
- The employee is expected to develop acceptable work habits, skills, knowledge, and contributions consistent with the EHS Coordinator position.
- This job also requires performing other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required:
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental or safety or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, Environmental, Ergonomics, and Hazardous Waste regulations.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Practical experience with technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
- Practical experience in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Ability to communicate in English (verbal and written)
Preferred:
- Experience in medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturing plants, including cleanroom experience.
- Experience with regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated interest in environmental health and safety field.
- Experience working in controlled environment, cleanroom manufacturing, or quality management system-controlled setting
WORK ENVIRONMENT

- Exposure to heated/air conditioned, ventilated facilities with florescent lighting.
- Exposure to building where a variety of chemical substances are used for cleaning, and/or operation of equipment.

PHYSICAL, SENSORY, COGNITIVE & NEUROLOGICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job:
- The employee may be required to stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see, and use repetitive motions.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision such as reading handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus.
- The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from multiple people and interact with internal and external people.
- Employee moves about the building and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks, etc.
- Employee may have duties involving walking on even or uneven surfaces.
- Employee occasionally to frequently use a whiteboard, which can require grasping whiteboard pens, reaching at, below, or above shoulder height and may require trunk or neck rotation to look back.
- Employee may use computers, overhead projectors, TV, and other work-related equipment, which may require an approximately 25+ pound force to push or pull equipment.
- It is necessary to grasp and manipulate pens, markers, scissors, staplers, etc. occasionally to frequently.
- Employee must see and hear on a continuous basis as well as speak frequently.
- Position varies from standing, sitting, walking, etc. On some occasions it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc. over smooth or uneven surfaces.
