EHS Manager
The EHS supports the Environmental, Health, and Safety program for the plant ensuring regulatory compliance as well as developing procedure, training, and committees to support same. This person establishes and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free, environmentally sound, and healthy work environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the safety function to ensure a safe work environment is maintained and practices follow all Company and government issued regulations.
- Maintain environmental compliance, complete environmental reporting, and ensure that waste generation is within allowable limits and waste is disposed of properly.
- Direct and conduct safety inspections and environmental testing on a regular basis.
- Record and report findings and recommend corrective action where necessary.
- Complete and submit necessary governmental reports.
- Investigate, analyze, and recommend corrective action to be taken in the case of accidents or near miss situations. Ensure complete and timely accident reporting.
- Direct and coordinate the first aid function and Workers' Compensation program.
- Coordinate communications with all parties involved and maintain related records.
- Manage return to work and light duty programs to facilitate the safest and quickest possible return to work.
- Coordinate all governmental agency communications, contacts and visits regarding safety and environmental matters.
- Ensure that all personnel are provided appropriate safety training by initiating, implementing, and monitoring safety training programs.
- Maintain adequate supply of safety equipment to support continuous operation of the plant.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment to maximize protection and reduce costs.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of written safety and environmental policies and procedures for plant personnel.
- Develop and maintain safety awareness and communication program.
- Coordinate periodic medical examinations of personnel in accordance with Company policy and government regulations.
- Maintain a variety of documents concerning employee benefits and health records.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of successful supervisory and safety/environmental work experience.
- Experience within a manufacturing plant
- Ability to effectively coach, lead, motivate, and develop people.
- Developed problem solving skills and computer skills.
