Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer in Oakland (or Walnut Creek) to support design and analysis of waterfront and marine infrastructure. You will work under supervision to develop structural calculations, drawings, and specifications for a range of projects.

The role emphasizes learning, collaboration with drafting staff, and gaining exposure to concrete, steel, and timber waterfront systems while pursuing professional growth and licensure support.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with 0-3 years of experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required with 2-4 years of experience, also considered.
• Working knowledge of structural engineering, including design and detailing for concrete, steel, and timber waterfront structures.

Responsibilities

• Assists with structural analysis, design, and detailing for concrete, steel, and timber waterfront structures.
• Assists with preparation of design concepts, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs.
• Performs finite element static and dynamic structural modelling.
• Coordinates plan details with drafting technicians.
• Works closely with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
• Assists with inspection of waterfront structures and preparation of inspection reports.
• Learns Moffatt & Nichol quality and documentation standards.
