Job summary

The City of Rawlins is seeking an entry-level Water & Wastewater Plant Operator I to support daily operation, servicing and maintenance of water treatment equipment. This at-will position reports to the Water & Wastewater Treatment Superintendent or chief operator and may back-up the wastewater plant as needed.

Responsibilities include monitoring flows, sampling, lab tests, reporting, and assisting with seasonal water source development.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to acquire Level I Water Treatment Certification within 1 year.
• Ability to obtain Level I Wastewater Operator Certification within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Operates water treatment plant equipment including filters, pumps, valves, and reservoirs.
• Monitors flow and maintains reservoirs and related infrastructure.
• Gathers samples, runs routine laboratory tests, and records daily reports.
• Maintains grounds, performs janitorial duties, and assists in seasonal tasks.
• Operates trucks for material transportation and participates in ongoing training.
