The job requires learning to operate a range of equipment, with instruction provided by supervision. CDL with tanker endorsement must be obtained within six months of employment; longevity pay is available based on years of service.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and six months or more experience in repair, maintenance and construction work.
• Valid non-commercial Class C driver's license.
• Ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement within six months.

Responsibilities

• Performs manual labor in repair and maintenance of wastewater systems, digging trenches and backfilling.
• Constructs shoring, lays pipes, and connects replacement pipes as instructed.
• Learns to drive a dump truck with a trailer and operates a front-end loader.
• Operates power equipment and hand tools safely as trained.
• Maintains gravity and pressure mains, grinder pumps, septic tanks, and pumping stations.
• Operates sewer cleaning equipment and tests valves as directed.
• Operates vehicles during snow removal operations and responds to emergencies.
