Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is seeking an Underwriting Support Specialist I to assist the underwriting team with review and entry of new and renewal submissions, enabling timely renewal preparation and policy issuance.

The role emphasizes accurate data entry, submission tracking, and communication with underwriters to resolve issues, while providing support across new business, renewals and endorsements in a office setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years office or clerical support experience in an insurance environment.
• Experience with Property and Casualty insurance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and enters new and renewal business submissions.
• Enters account information, including name, address, agency and effective date.
• Enters classifications and exposure base to rate submission.
• Reviews past loss experience noting source and trends.
• Completes analysis and files into the Duck system to assign to Loss Control Department.
• Files submission correspondence within ImageRight.
• Communicates completed submission and/or submission issues to underwriters.
• Handles endorsement transactions per underwriter instructions.
• Assists in new business, renewal, endorsement and cancellation data entry and policy issuance as needed to provide support to the underwriting team.
• Assists in other areas of processing as requested.
