Fehr & Peers in Los Angeles is seeking an entry-level transportation engineer or planner to build a strong professional foundation through standard techniques under guidance from experienced staff. You will grow your skills across transportation planning, engineering, and design projects in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include transportation analysis, report writing, public outreach, and active project coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or in-progress master’s degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or related fields.
• EIT certification is preferred.
• Experience in transportation topics: field work, traffic operations analysis, signal design, transportation planning, bicycle and pedestrian planning, transit planning, infrastructure finance, transportation and land use policy, travel demand modeling, and related areas.
• Experience with Excel, GIS, CAD, traffic analysis tools, and programming languages Python or R.
• Experience in a professional or team environment related to transportation or another relevant field is helpful.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and proactive communication.
• Genuine curiosity about transportation and familiarity with day-to-day travel challenges.
• Interpersonal skills, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.
• Organizational skills to balance priorities.
• Experience with technical writing and public speaking.
• Openness to exploring new technologies and tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct transportation analysis and prepare reports, memos, and other technical deliverables
• Participate in meetings, including preparing presentations and public outreach materials
• Support project coordination and management activities
• Engage with professional organizations and industry activities
• Conduct site visits and collect field data
• Explore opportunities to contribute to Fehr & Peers internal Research and Development program
• Embrace opportunities to learn and adopt new tools, technologies, and ways of working while maintaining accountability for results
