Job summary

AEP Service Corporation is seeking an entry-level to 1–2 year experienced professional to support the Monitoring Analysis Response Center and real-time transmission operations. The role involves data-driven decisions around Asset Health Alarms, real-time system health monitoring, and coordinating with Reliability Coordinators and neighboring utilities.

You will assist in maintaining system voltages and power flows, ensure compliance with grid standards, and help restore service after outages.

Qualifications

Two-year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
Ability to operate power systems and understand dispatching operations.
Willingness to obtain SO/PD certification and pass required tests.

Responsibilities

Assist in monitoring and operating the transmission system to maintain reliability.
Direct routine and emergency switching/tagging for equipment removal/restoration.
Monitor voltages, currents, and loading; take corrective action as needed.
Record and maintain logs of operating conditions and events.
Coordinate with Reliability Coordinators and dispatch centers.
Support SCADA and metering system operation and troubleshoot malfunctions.
Prepare switching orders and safety tagging for maintenance work.
Participate in emergency restoration and incident response.
