Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking an entry-level Operator in Ohio to support the transmission system. Under supervision, you will coordinate switching, monitor voltages, and assist in real-time operations with the AEP SCC and regional utilities.

You will prepare basic switching orders, maintain logs, and support emergency restoration efforts. A valid driver license and a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience are required.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field, or high school with 2 years power-system experience.
• 1–2 years experience in substation operation or distribution dispatching is desirable.
• Valid state driver license.

Responsibilities

• Assist Monitoring Analysis Response Center with data-driven next step decisions around Asset Health alarms.
• Monitor system health alarms and provide guidance to downstream stakeholders.
• Monitor real-time compliance around PRC002, PRC004, and TPL007 for supporting stakeholders.
• Monitor real-time fire monitoring apps and support downstream stakeholders on next steps.
• Monitor other advanced applications and notify stakeholders when alarm thresholds are reached.
