Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Associate Planning Engineer to join its Energy & Systems Solutions team in the United States. You will provide transmission planning support under supervision, applying basic electrical engineering concepts and using industry tools.

This entry-level role offers hands-on experience with utilities, ISO/RTO planning, and collaboration with senior staff, with opportunities to travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
• 0–4 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of load flow, short circuit, and basic circuitry.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Technical Support: Solve simple, routine technical problems following established procedures and policies.
• Systems Analysis: Apply basic principles, theories, and concepts of electrical engineering to support transmission system planning and power system analysis.
• Tool Utilization: Utilize and develop proficiency in industry-standard analytical tools such as ETAP, SKM, CYME, Synergi, WindMil, PSS/E, PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, or ASPEN.
• Documentation: Assist in the technical writing of project findings and contribute to the preparation of basic analysis for project reports.
• Communication: Communicate with peers to explain facts, basic analysis, and engineering processes related to your work area.
• Professional Development: Learn to apply NERC reliability standards FERC regulatory policies, or IEEE standards to real-world infrastructure projects.
