Job summary

Maryland Transportation Authority in Annapolis, MD is seeking an entry-level Transportation Systems/Operations Specialist I to support highway operations and ITS. You will monitor CCTV, operate DMS/CHART ATMS, and coordinate with police and maintenance to manage incidents and traffic flow.

This role requires clear communication under high stress, multitasking across multiple screens, and training for permanent status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No prior work experience required.
• CHART Operator I Certification training must be completed.
• Medical examination and drug testing may be required.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Access and verify incident/congestion conditions via CCTV, radio, and ITS data.
• Program and operate ITS devices for motorist information systems (DMS, HAR).
• Coordinate with police, maintenance, and recovery units.
• Monitor real-time traffic data and incident conditions.
• Utilize CHART ATMS and Lane Use signals to manage traffic flow.
• Prepare logs and reports on traffic conditions and incidents.
• Answer incident reporting network calls and relay to team leaders.
