Maryland Transportation Authority in Annapolis, MD is seeking an entry-level Transportation Systems/Operations Specialist I to support highway operations and ITS. You will monitor CCTV, operate DMS/CHART ATMS, and coordinate with police and maintenance to manage incidents and traffic flow.
This role requires clear communication under high stress, multitasking across multiple screens, and training for permanent status.

Nature of Work: This is the entry level of technical highway operations/traffic management center work involving traffic systems control, incident/congestion management, and communications. Employees undergo training to learn to operate state of the art, computerized traffic management workstations designed to facilitate traffic flow and minimize congestion and security monitoring systems. Employees in this position will report directly to the Highway Operations Technician IV. Current vacancies are in Annapolis and Baltimore, Maryland. Additionally, the eligible list established from this announcement may be used to fill opportunities throughout the MDTA.
Employees are considered “Safety Sensitive” and “Essential Employees” and are required to work rotating shifts, to include evenings, nights, and weekends. In the event of emergency highway conditions, employees are subject to callback during scheduled off hours.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: None.
