Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. in Westfield, MA is seeking a Tractor Technician Trainee in the Maintenance department. This entry-level role provides foundational training on tools, shop safety, and company rules, with potential shifts including nights and weekends and outdoor work.

Under close supervision you will shadow experienced technicians, learn to perform repairs to air brake systems, complete work orders, and progress toward efficient maintenance and basic repairs.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age; willingness to work outdoors and across shifts.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Multitasking ability.
• Ability to read English.
• Willingness to wear PPE.
• Teamwork and independence.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong time management.

Responsibilities

• Shadow a senior technician to learn repairs to manufacturer specifications and complete work orders
• Follow shop safety procedures at all times
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers
• Train in routine preventative maintenance and air brake system basics
