Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a Boeing subsidiary, Defense Business Unit, seeks an engineer to design and support airplane manufacturing tools (jigs, fixtures, drill systems, test equipment) in Spirit Defense.

You will develop concept designs, analyze structural and mechanical aspects, and create tool layouts and NC-ready digital models.

The role requires ABET accreditation, 3–5 years in a related field, and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance; DoD clearance preferred; union environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Aerospace/Mechanical/Industrial Eng or ABET accredited program.
  • 3–5 years in related engineering role and willingness to obtain US security clearance.
  • Experience with CAD tools and structural analysis methods.
  • DoD clearance within last 24 months preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and support airplane manufacturing tools (jigs, fixtures, drill equipment).
  • Develop concepts and analyze structural/mechanical aspects of tools.
  • Create tool layouts and digital models for NC data preparation.
  • Lead process improvements and ensure compliance with processes/procedures.
  • Interface with production, engineering, and external customers.
