Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems is seeking an experienced Tooling Engineer to design and support manufacturing tooling for aircraft production. You will create and validate tooling layouts, jigs, and fixtures, integrating CAD/CAM data and NC programs to meet manufacturing plans.

Responsibilities include leading tooling projects, performing stress analyses, and ensuring quality through SPC and process improvements. A U.S. security clearance is required or achievable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Aerospace/Mechanical/Industrial Eng from ABET-accredited university.
• Master’s degree with 2–4 years of relevant experience (optional).
• Willingness to obtain U.S. citizenship security clearance; interim/Final Secret clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

• Designs and supports airplane manufacturing tools such as access equipment, fixtures, and test equipment.
• Develops concepts and analyzes structural/mechanical systems for tooling.
• Provides leadership and technical guidance on tool engineering competencies.
• Ensures tooling meets manufacturing plans and quality via SPC and verification methods.
• Interacts with production, manufacturing engineering, and external customers to optimize processes.

Education

ABET-accredited B.S. in Aerospace/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering

Master’s degree (2–4 years related experience)
