Job summary

Bowman Consulting in Marshall, TX, seeks a Survey Instrument Operator to join our field team. You will operate survey instruments, perform boundary, topography, ALTA surveys, and stakeouts, and support the crew on daily field tasks. This entry-level role requires willingness to travel, work outdoors in all seasons, and maintain equipment.

We value safety, teamwork, and attention to detail. A valid driver's license is required, and prior instrument operation experience is a plus.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; commensurate experience considered.
College or technical courses in mathematics and surveying.
Entry level position; no prior experience required; survey/construction experience a plus.
Prior Instrument Operator experience preferred; familiar with boundary/topographic/ALTA-NSPS surveys.
Ability to work outside in all seasons.
Travel and overtime required.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

Perform boundary, topography, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys for public and private clients.
Set up and operate survey equipment, including total-station, data-collector, level, and GPS.
Perform survey calculations.
Perform all stakeout and location surveys using applicable equipment.
Maintain survey equipment and keep survey truck stocked with supplies.
Coordinate work of assigned personnel.
Assist and train personnel in lower-level positions.
Make accuracy and calibration checks and adjustments on equipment.
Daily, work safely and in compliance with all safety regulations.
Daily care of instruments and vehicle.
