Job summary

Bowman in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to join our field team. This entry-level role involves setting up and operating survey equipment (total-station, GPS, data-collector), performing boundary, topography, and ALTA surveys, and delivering accurate data under supervision.

You must be comfortable outdoors in all seasons, able to travel for assignments, and hold a valid driver's license. Travel and overtime are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; commensurate experience considered.
• College or technical courses in mathematics and surveying.
• Entry level position, no prior experience required; any survey or construction related experience a plus.
• Prior Instrument Operator experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate survey instruments and perform surveys as directed by management.
• Assist field supervisor with daily crew workload.
• Work as part of a survey crew performing boundary, topography, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys.
• Set up and operate survey equipment including total-station, data-collector, level, and GPS.
• Perform survey calculations and stakeout/location surveys.
• Maintain equipment and keep survey vehicle stocked with supplies.
• Coordinate work of subordinate personnel and assist/train others.
• Make calibration checks and ensure safety regulations are followed.
• Daily outdoor work with potential hazards and seasonal conditions.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
