Job summary

Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. in Fredericksburg, VA seeks a Survey Instrument Operator I to join our field surveying team. You will set up and operate survey instruments and perform surveys under supervision, contributing to boundary, topography, ALTA, and ROW projects.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working outdoors in varying weather, and capable of following procedures while delivering accurate data. No prior experience required; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; relevant experience considered.
• Experience with boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS surveys is a plus.
• Willingness to travel and work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate survey equipment, including total-station, data collector, level and GPS.
• Perform survey calculations.
• Perform stakeout and locations surveys using applicable survey equipment.
• Maintain survey equipment and keep survey truck stocked.
• Make accuracy and calibration checks and adjustments on equipment used.
