Job summary

Bowman Consulting is seeking a Survey SUE Technician I to join our Melbourne, FL team. You will work outdoors with electromagnetic equipment and ground penetrating radar to detect subsurface utilities, and assist with vacuum truck operations and surveying tasks.

This entry-level role supports training toward SUE Technician II while meeting safety standards and travel requirements. You’ll locate utilities, collect field measurements, and document data, sketches, and reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED strongly preferred. Commensurate relevant experience considered.
• Entry level position, no prior experience required.
• Ability/willingness to travel for work assignments, including occasional overnight assignments.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and random thereafter.
• Ability to work outside in all seasons and conditions.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities through nondestructive methods and operate data collectors.
• Record and document field data and sketches; assist in surveying activities.
• Assist in operation of vacuum truck and related equipment; comply with safety standards.
• Assist in identification of utilities with EMI and GPR technologies.
• Support traffic control procedures and drive company vehicles.
