Job summary

Bowman is seeking an entry-level Survey SUE Technician I to join our team in one of our NC/SC offices (Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston, or Columbia). This role involves outdoor field work using electromagnetic equipment and ground-penetrating radar to detect subsurface utilities, plus vacuum truck operation and surveying activities.

Candidates must be willing to travel and meet safety standards. No prior experience is required for this entry-level position, and a valid driver’s license is

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
• Entry level position, no prior experience required.
• Ability/willingness to travel for work assignments, including occasional overnight assignments.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and random thereafter.
• Ability to work outside in all seasons and conditions.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities through nondestructive methods.
• Operate Data Collectors and collect field measurements.
• Record and document the underground utility field data accurately.
• Train to operate and maintain company equipment and vehicles.
• Train to meet company safety standards.
• Assist in operation of vacuum truck and related equipment.
• Assist in identification of underground utilities with EMI and GPR.
• Assist in the surveying of all SUE work.
• Assist in implementation of traffic control procedures.
• Drive company vehicles.
• Work toward advancing to SUE Technician II.
