Job summary

GFT in St. Louis, MO is seeking an Entry Level Substation Engineer to join our power group. This role follows a hybrid work model with a minimum of three days on-site in the office.

You will learn to design utility class substations from 69kV up to 500kV, working with senior staff to strengthen your understanding of substation design while contributing to projects that enhance reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 0–2 years of experience in design, engineering and project management within power and utility industry.
• Demonstrated interest in electrical engineering and substation or power design through coursework, internship, or work experience.
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development of Substation layout drawings including plan/elevations, yard layouts, grounding, raceways, and cable schedules for new and existing substations.
• Help develop Substation one lines, DC/AC power systems, DC Schematics, SCADA and Communications Systems, Relay layouts, Equipment wiring, and Cable Schedules.
• Prepare calculations and report results to clients.
• Assist in preparing equipment specifications for substation equipment, components, and construction.
