Job summary

IES Communications in Monroe, LA is seeking a Communications Technician I to support a technical team in the structured cabling field. The role requires 0–1 year of experience and willingness to learn. You will install outlets, route cables, build closets, terminate devices, and complete paperwork accurately.

Must meet safety standards and be able to lift up to 50 pounds and travel as needed. High school diploma required; basic construction knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Zero to one year of experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Basic construction industry knowledge preferred.
• Must possess and learn to effectively use listed tools.
• Ability to meet company driving standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install a work area outlet for floor, modular furniture and wall outlets.
• Drop cable and route through modular furniture; organize, form, dress cables with proper length and labeling.
• Build closets with backboards, cross connects, racks and patch panels; install grounding as required.
• Perform fire-stopping on walls, install sleeves, and pull cables through sleeves and penetrations.
• Terminate low-voltage devices and complete IES paperwork accurately (timesheets, work orders, etc.).
• Adhere to quality and safety standards and participate in required trainings.
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
