Job summary

IES is seeking a Communications Technician I to join the structured cabling team in Monroe, LA. The role typically requires up to one year of experience in the field, with training provided to learn and perform standard tasks in a team setting.

You will install outlets, route cables, build closets, terminate devices and complete required paperwork while adhering to safety and quality standards. This onsite position offers outdoor/indoor work and requires travel within territories as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• 0–1 year experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Basic construction industry knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install a work area outlet for floor, modular furniture and wall outlets.
• Drop cable down a wall and route through modular furniture; perform pre-termination procedures.
• Build closets including backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels and fiber optics.
• Terminate low-voltage devices.
• Complete IES paperwork (timesheets, work orders, transfers).
• Follow company and safety standards and complete other duties as assigned.
