Job summary

IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services across electrical, mechanical and communications contracting solutions. The Communications Technician I role requires learning to function as part of a technical team with 0–1 year of structured cabling experience.

The position involves installing outlets for floors, furniture, and walls, building racks and patch panels, grounding, and completing required paperwork.

Responsibilities

  • Install a work area outlet for floors, modular furniture, and walls; drop cable using fish tape and route through furniture.
  • Build closets with racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware and grounding as required.
  • Perform fire-stopping and core penetration work; install sleeves and pull cable through sleeves.
  • Terminate low-voltage devices according to specs.
  • Complete IES COMMERCIAL paperwork (timesheets, transfers, work orders) accurately and on time.
  • Adhere to company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards.
