Job summary

You will measure, cut, grind, fit, and tack weld parts for steel ship structures, from small assemblies to large sub-assemblies, across ships in dry-docks and on board. The role requires strong math skills and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to work in confined spaces and at height.

Qualifications

• Must have strong math skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Read, interpret, plan and execute from drawings and procedures.
• Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds and perform overhead work.
• Must be willing to work overtime and various shifts.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, plan and execute welds from procedures.
• Fit, measure, cut, grind, and tack weld parts for ship structures.
• Work in shops, platens, dry-docks and onboard ships on new construction and repairs.
