Job summary

Hirschler in Richmond, VA, seeks a highly motivated third-year law student graduating in May 2027 to join our Commercial Real Estate Practice as an entry-level associate in our Richmond office. You will work with experienced attorneys on sophisticated matters and have meaningful responsibility from day one.

You will engage in acquisitions, leasing, development and zoning work, participate in client meetings and hearings, and receive mentorship to develop the skills needed for long-term success

Qualifications

• J.D. anticipated in May 2027 and eligible to sit for the Virginia Bar.
• Strong academic credentials and interest in real estate, development, land use, or zoning.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct due diligence for commercial real estate transactions and development projects
• Draft and review purchase agreements, leases, development-related agreements, loan documents, and other transaction documents
• Work with clients, engineers, planners, environmental consultants, and other professionals involved in development projects
• Research legal issues and prepare written analyses, memoranda, and correspondence
• Assist with land use, zoning, and entitlement matters under Virginia law and local ordinances
• Support the preparation of applications for rezonings, conditional use permits, special exceptions, variances, and other land use approvals
• Participate in interactions with planning commissions, boards of supervisors, zoning appeal boards, and other governmental bodies
